Introduction
A color palette is a named list of colors for use in Chart views.
Predefined Color Palettes
The System color palette always exists and serves as the default. Additional color palettes can be defined by an administrator, and one color palette can serve as the default for all the chart views for your company. The System palette cannot be edited or removed.
A few additional color palettes are there for you to use, namely the “Dawn”, “Day”, and “Dusk” color palettes. An administrator can edit, copy, or remove these color palettes.
Color Palette Admin
Color palettes are shared by all the users in your company. They can be defined by the administrator (having the tenant_admin role). The ability to define color palettes can be delegated to a user by granting the user the “palette_admin” role.
Managing Color Palettes
To manage color palettes, choose “Color Palettes” from the “Admin” menu. It brings up the following dialog:
On the left is a list of the defined color palettes. This list always includes “System” (which cannot be edited). The palette shown in bold is the default palette (in our example it’s the “Dusk” color palette). If none of the items in the list is shown in bold, then the System palette is the default color palette.
The buttons on the right allow you to:
- Add a new color palette
- Edit the highlighted color palette
- Duplicate the highlighted color palette
- Remove (delete) the highlighted color palette
- Set default. Make the highlighted color palette be the default
Adding or Editing a Color Palette
- Label - is the name of the color palette
- Default Palette - check this box to make this palette the default. Only one palette can be the default, so this would replace the previous default.
- Color List - colors are specified using hash and hexadecimal notation. This is a common notation for web pages. You can type these in directly and see the resulting list in the numbered colored boxes below. You can also edit colors using a color picker by clicking on a numbered color box to edit the corresponding color in the list or click the “+” to add a new color to the list.
